Nearly fifty luminaries, business leaders, doctors, and other professionals graced the exclusive launch of “Nayaab,” a new product portfolio for men by Namrata Mitra, held at the Spring Club, Kolkata on 12th July, 2024. The invitation-only event showcased customized menswear on the catwalk, with the designer herself explaining the intricacies of each ensemble, all custom-designed and manufactured by her team of skilled artisans from Kolkata.
A veteran educationist, the co-chairperson of a top technical university of Bengal, attended the event and expressed her admiration for this unique project. Nayaab is a new endeavor focused on men’s styling, where Mitra and her team work closely with clients to create personalized ensembles.
A well-known entrepreneur from the city highlighted the much ignored area of men’s fashion, emphasizing the significance of their lifestyle. “Men’s styling is often neglected, yet the clothes and styles represent the person,” he said.
The event also staged fashion walks showcasing several models, accompanied by a live musical performance. A renowned music director and film composer, who has already availed himself of Nayaab’s services, praised its fabric quality.
Guests had the opportunity to browse a diverse range of other items on display, such as sarees, home décor and various accessories. All these are handmade by tailors who benefit from this socially responsible and environmentally conscious enterprise.
To quote one of the international distributors, “The work of Namrata is much more than the length of fabric. It is about her inspiring journey and how she bridges communities together through a creative vision and redefines her role in Indian society as a social entrepreneur.”
Nayaab mission statement was evident at its launch itself. Speaking about the goals, Mitra said, “I wish to offer a special service to my clients and also provide employment to the numerous supporting hands I work with.” The event celebrated this commitment and offered an opportunity for the Kolkata artisans whose skills often go unacknowledged.
As the event concluded, it was clear that Nayaab is poised to make a lasting impact on the fashion industry. The support from attendees and the broader community highlight the importance of recognizing the poor artisans behind these exquisite creations.
