A five-year partnership with MeitY’s premier tech institution puts national-standard technology education within reach of students in Rajasthan and near by states

Hanumangarh (Rajasthan) [India], March 26: Shri Khushal Das University (SKD University), Hanumangarh, has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), New Delhi — an autonomous scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. The agreement was executed at NIELIT Bhawan, Dwarka, New Delhi on March 20, 2026, and opens a direct pathway for students in Rajasthan to access nationally recognised programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, Internet of Things (IoT), Computer Science, Engineering and Semiconductor Technologies — without leaving their region.

Dr. Alok Tripathi, Director (Scheme/Skilling) and Chief Controller of Examinations, NIELIT, and Dr. Ramawatar Meena, Vice Chancellor, SKD University, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective institutions. Mr. Girish Kumar, Director General, SKD University, along with other senior officials from both organisations, was present at the ceremony.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly design and deliver certification courses, Faculty Development Programmes, workshops, seminars, and training aligned with national skill frameworks and industry standards. NIELIT’s specialised curriculum on Cyber Forensics and Cyber Crime will be introduced for SKD University students on mutually agreed terms. A Centre of Excellence with state-of-the-art laboratories is planned on the university campus, where students will receive not just theoretical instruction but hands-on training. The partnership further provides for collaborative research, co-publications, innovation initiatives, student internships, industrial exposure, and joint participation in government-funded national and international projects. A Joint Coordination Committee will be constituted to oversee implementation and conduct periodic reviews.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Ramawatar Meena called the MOU a turning point for the university and its students. The partnership, he said, would bring NIELIT’s nationally recognised curriculum and government-backed programmes directly to students on campus, with new batches, Faculty Development Programmes, and skill-based courses set to roll out shortly.

Chairperson Mr. Varun Yadav described the MOU as a defining moment for SKD University. “This partnership reflects where SKD University is headed — toward national relevance and global readiness. Our students deserve the best, and we will ensure they get it,” he said.

Managing Director Mr. Dinesh Juneja pointed to the tangible regional impact of the agreement. “Students from Rajasthan and nearby states no longer need to travel to metro cities for quality technology education. We are bringing that opportunity to their doorstep,” he said.

Located at the confluence of Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana, SKD University draws students from across the tri-state region. Through a growing portfolio of national partnerships and institutional reforms, the university has steadily made the case that quality higher education need not remain confined to India’s larger cities. The MOU with NIELIT — a Government of India body with a mandate spanning formal and non-formal education in Information, Electronics and Communications Technology — marks a significant step in that direction, and is expected to strengthen the university’s standing in national ranking frameworks including NIRF.
